Updated: Thursday, April 11 2013, 06:21 PM EDT
COLUMBUS -- Police are searching for thieves who broke into 89 lockers at a storage rental facility in Northwest Columbus, stealing hundreds of items including more than a dozen handguns.

Burglars broke into Uncle Bob’s Self-Storage, 851 W. Henderson Rd., on April 3rd, by cutting through a chain link fence.

David Ditmar’s family rented two units to store valuables owned by his father, who is now in a nursing facility.

Among the property stolen, were 16 vintage pistols, ammunition and dozens of rare coins worth more than $50,000.

“It wasn’t as bad as if they broke into our home,” said David, “but some of the stuff had been in our family for more than 100 years”.

Anyone with information is asked to call Columbus Police at 614-645-4545.
