Fleeing Driver Causes Major Crash in Columbus
Updated: Tuesday, March 19 2013, 07:33 PM EDT
COLUMBUS -- A fender bender car accident at Whittier and Parsons avenues turned into a huge mess when one of the drivers fled the scene.
Columbus police say they saw the accident and the two people who were outside of their cars after the accident.
When the officer asked if they needed help, the one took off in his SUV.
The SUV refused to stop for police on Parsons Avenue, hitting cars and a building at 66 Parsons Ave.
He then continued driving and hit a utility pole causing power to go out to many customers in the area.
Parsons Ave was closed between E. Broad St. and Franklin Ave. for several hours as the investigation continued.
Only on ABC 6/FOX 28, you can see Columbus police swerve up onto a sidewalk to avoid a serious crash with the person who fled.
Over 14 cars have been reported as damaged out of this incident as well, both from the SUV hitting them and debris from the building hitting others.
No word why the man decided to flee the scene of the first accident.
