Drinking and Driving Warning after Teens Hit

COLUMBUS -- A warning about drinking and driving as people are out and about enjoying big events and celebrations around town this weekend.
The warning comes after two teenaged boys were hit by a suspected drunk driver in Pickaway county Thursday night.
17 year old Shannon Smith and his best friend 15 year old Chance Blevins were hurt in the alleged hit and run while walking along Era Road.
Police say Jack Tirey hit the boys then drove off but was later caught.
"They're driving a loaded machine gun to be honest with you a killing machine when they get behind the wheel," said Randy Young.
Young says his 17 year old step-daughter was killed 22 years ago when she left a slumber party with friends who's been drinking.
Despite injuries and deaths from alcohol-related crashes, Young says people still take the risk.
"I think part of the reason is everybody thinks it won't happen to me or I won't get caught," said Young.
Tirey is facing his second OVI charge since 1985. His bond was set Friday at $52,000.
