Del. Co. Outlet Mall Developers to Address Site Change

DELAWARE COUNTY -- Neighbors are ready to hear more about changes to one of two central Ohio outlet mall proposals.
Developers are expected to speak at a Wednesday night meeting concerning the plan by Simon Malls to build a Tanger Outlet center near Sunbury at the I-71 interchange with US-36/SR-37.
Simon's plans have changed since the company made its initial announcement in 2012. At that time, the company planned to build it's outlets on the southwest quadrant of the interchange, behind a Cracker Barrel restaurant.
Late last week, however, the company submitted a plan to Delaware County officials to build the shops on the southeast quadrant. A company spokesman told ABC 6/FOX 28 the change is due to problems with power lines and a creek that cuts across the property.
That new proposed site is adjacent to the location for a competing outlet mall proposal made by Simon's main rival. Developer Pat Shivley and Craig Realty have already appeared before the Berkshire Township Zoning Board, which tabled the company's request at a meeting last month.
Approximately 150 residents showed up to that meeting, with around a dozen speaking out against the proposed mall.
