Coroner: Remains Found in Linden Area Identified

Updated: Monday, April 22 2013, 07:59 PM EDT

COLUMBUS – Investigators have identified human remains discovered behind a central Ohio elementary school, according to the Franklin Co. Coroner's Office.

Dr. Jan Gorniak told ABC 6/FOX 28 the remains are that of a 61-year-old male. The identity of the deceased -- who is believed to have died of natural causes -- is being withheld from the public pending notification of next of kin.

The remains were discovered on the afternoon of April 19 by children playing in a wooded area behind East Linden Elementary School.

Detectives believe the bones lay in the area for several months prior to their discovery, despite the presence of several trails that pass through the woods.
