Columbus Driver Sentenced in Crash That Killed Boy

Updated: Monday, April 29 2013, 07:45 PM EDT
COLUMBUS -- A man will spend the next three years behind bars after causing a crash that killed a 5-year-old boy.

William Hill apologized to the family of his victim, Tucker Northeimer, before he was sentenced on Monday. In addition to the prison term, Hill's driving privileges have been permanently suspended.

Northeimer was killed while riding with his 3-year-old sister in the backseat of their father's car on December 5, 2012 when Hill ran a stoplight at SR-161 and Beechcroft Ave., slamming into the family's vehicle.

Hill admitted he had taken prescription drugs, smoked marijuana, and drank beer before the crash.
