We found two apartment complexes, blocks apart, that were hit on the same day.
Sammy, a woman whose apartment was burglarized twice in a matter of hours, said, "This is a place that's a retreat from everything that drives me crazy." But that retreat was ransacked by crooks.
They broke through her bedroom window and stole electronics and family heirlooms, including her grandmother's gold ring.
"She passed away when I was 12 years old," Sammy said. "I just got it from her when she passed away." Sammy had a copy of that ring made and it's all she has left of what her grandmother left her.
At another apartment complex a few blocks away, a family had a similar experience. Burglars broke in through a window, and stole their electronics.
According to the reports, in almost all of the burglaries, the thieves broke in through windows and targeted mostly jewelry and electronics.
