FRANKLINTON - A Columbus Fire Department firefighter was injured Tuesday morning while battling a rekindled house fire.
Flames first erupted from the N. Princeton Ave. home around 1 a.m.
Investigators told ABC 6/FOX 28 News that the fire started in a back room on the home's second story.
Crews quickly put out the flames and an arson investigator was called in to determine if the fire was suspicious.
The fire rekindled around 2:45 a.m. in an upstairs bedroom.
CFD officials said the firefighter was injured when a piece of debris splashed into his eye.
He was taken to a nearby hospital to have his eye flushed as a precaution.
The fire remained under investigation at 5:30 a.m.
Investigators told ABC 6/FOX 28 News that they considered is suspicious.
Police had one suspect in custody and investigators planned to talk to the person later Tuesday morning.
Records filed with the Franklin County Auditor indicate the home was seized by the State of Ohio after it was forfeited by its owner in December.
