COLUMBUS - A rude awakening for a sleeping Columbus woman after car narrowly misses her.
It happened just after one Monday morning on Brooke Boulevard in Southeast Columbus.
Monique Treaure had just dozed off when she awoke to a real-life nightmare.
"I just felt something hit me," said Treasure. "I jumped up, looked over here and saw the wall was coming in and then I saw all the smoke. I a 'ssshhhhhh' and my first thing was let me get out of here!"
Treasure didn't even realize it was a car until she got outside. That's where she met the driver.
"So I said did you not see the stop sign? And he said it wasn't that simple – his car just didn't cooperate with the stop."
As Treasure figures out what's next for her and her son, she says she has faith – just like the prayer on her wall.
"I thank God that he covered me and my family and that nothing happened."
Treasure says this experience hasn't soured her on first floor apartments, although she says next time she'll live in the back away from the road.
