COLUMBUS -- (Release from Cabelas) Cabela’s Incorporated, the World’s Foremost Outfitter® of hunting, fishing and outdoor gear, officially opened the doors of its Columbus, Ohio store – the company’s first Ohio location – at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 7. A ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by Cabela’s executives and Governor Kasich began at 10:45 a.m.
Opening Day marks the beginning of a weekend-long celebration featuring outdoor celebrities, family events, giveaways and more.
“Ohio is full of loyal Cabela’s customers, avid outdoorsmen and women who live the Cabela’s lifestyle,” said Tommy Millner, Cabela’s Chief Executive Officer. “Many hunters, anglers and outdoor enthusiasts across the region have supported Cabela’s for a long time through our catalog and website. Now they get to enjoy the extraordinary Cabela’s retail experience.”
The 80,000-square-foot store – expected to employ about 175 full-time, part-time and seasonal staffers – is located at 1650 Gemini Place off Interstate 71 near Costco, Cambria Suites, Toys R Us, Babies R Us, Hobby Lobby and the Polaris Business Park, among other businesses.
The store’s interior is built in Cabela’s next-generation format, featuring a large stone fireplace, mountain replica, dynamic wildlife displays, aquarium, indoor archery range, deli, Gun Library and Bargain Cave, as well as thousands of quality outdoor products. The exterior reflects Cabela’s popular store model with log construction, stonework, wood siding and metal roofing.
Currently, Cabela’s operates 40 stores across the United States and Canada and has announced plans to open an additional eight in 2013 and three in 2014.
