"Buckeye" Turns Fans into Suspects

COLUMBUS -- A Texas couple traveling home from a visit to Columbus get an unexpected stop by Tennessee Police.

Bonnie Jonas-Boggioni says she and her husband were pulled over just east of Memphis because their "buckeye" bumper sticker looked similar to marijuana.

"(The officer) said he saw our car and thought we were carrying marijuana," she said.

According to Jonas-Boggioni, armed officers in body armor got a lesson in botany.

"Whoever they were," she said. "Were so dumb to think a five leaf- buckeye leaf was a marijuana plant."

Police let her go without a ticket or a search of her vehicle, packed with luggage from her trip to Ohio. However, police did give her one last warning.

"He said, 'You should get rid of the bumper sticker.' I said, 'You mean in Tennessee?' He said, 'No, forever.'"

The bumper sticker however, stayed put on the back of her car; after all, once a fan, always a fan of Buckeye Nation.
