COLUMBUS -- Detectives are trying to find the man who robbed the Buckeye Donut Shop on South High Street.
Clerk Anita Bowers says a man came in with a brick, threatened her and then took the cash register. She says he smashed the register on the ground, breaking it so that he could get the money.
Bowers, “I was really surprised. It was scary, so I ran and called police.”
The robbery was caught on the store’s surveillance camera. The pictures were handed over to police.
During the robbery a customer came to the aid of Bowers.
Daisy Castillo was enjoying a cup of coffee and a donut when the robbery happened Saturday night.
She took a magazine rack and threw it at the robber, scaring the thief off.
“It all happened so fast, “ Castillo told ABC6/Fox 28 reporter Maria Durant. “I’m not sure why I did it.”
No one was injured.
Detectives are looking into whether this guy is the same suspect who robbed a South Columbus certified gas station last Wednesday.
