BOSTON EXPLOSIONS: Columbus Police on Alert

Updated: Monday, April 15 2013, 08:10 PM EDT
COLUMBUS -- Central Ohio police are on heightening alertness after Monday's deadly explosions at the Boston Marathon.

Columbus Police Chief Kim Jacobs told ABC 6/FOX 28 the department relies partly on the public for assistance in stopping potential terrorist attacks before they occur.

"If it's a terrorist attack, we need to be very vigilant, and we need to make sure the whole community has a responsibility to help us," Chief Jacobs said. "We can't be everywhere all at once, so if you see something, say something."

Chief Jacobs advises residents to report any suspicious activity to Columbus police.
