COLUMBUS -- Columbus police along with Upper Arlington police are investigating a bank robbery at the Key Bank in Northwest Columbus at 1933 Henderson Road.
A COTA bus happened to be driving by at the time and the driver saw 29-year-old Larry Troutman Jr. running. He thought that suspect was late for something so he picked him up.
That's when the driver saw the money bag and the dye pack that had exploded.
A witness from the bank saw the suspect running as well from the bank and called police when he jumped on the COTA bus.
Upper Arlington Police were dispatched to the where the bus was headed and was able to get the driver to stop the bus.
Police were able to take Troutman Jr. into custody after the witness from the bank came to identify him.
The dye pack in the bag of money had gone off inside the bag and left red dye outside of the bank as well as on the bus.
Police say they recovered other evidence from the bus and the bank that could connect this suspect to the bank robbery.
