COLUMBUS -- A third suspect has been arrested in a home invasion that occurred Monday afternoon in NE Columbus.
The man was apprehended while hiding under a porch at a home on the 900 block of E. Cooke Road after a search that lasted approximately 2 hours. Two additional suspects were already in custody at the time of the arrest.
Six schools, including Brookhaven High, were locked down while police conducted the search.
The suspects posed as meat salesmen in order to gain entry to the residence at 5624 Beechcroft Ave., which was occupied by at least one person, according to investigators. Once inside, the suspects fired a shot into the floor, and eventually left the home with multiple containers of money.
As the suspects fled the scene, another resident arrived, and proceeded to follow the robbers' vehicle, according to investigators. A police cruiser soon joined the chase.
One of the suspects was apprehended inside the getaway car, while another was captured soon after, just down the street.
No one was hurt during the home invasion, or the subsequent suspect search.
