DELAWARE -- Testimony continued Tuesday in the trial of a man accused of killing a young mother while driving drunk.

In court, a state trooper testified that Marc Kraft admitted to having three to four drinks on the day he drove his pickup truck into the car driven by Heidi Hecker on November 8, 2012 on US-23, just south of SR-315.

The crash killed Hecker, 36, instantly, and seriously injured her 10-month-old daughter and 36-year-old boyfriend, Brad Weaver.

Witnesses reported that Kraft was speeding prior to the crash, reaching 80 mph just before striking Hecker's car. Experts say there is no evidence that Kraft attempted to brake before the crash.

The trial will resume Wednesday morning, at which time the presiding judge will hear taped testimony. The case is being presented in a bench trial, meaning no jury is involved.
