Dr. Jason C. Stoner is one of the top periodontists in Columbus, Ohio. He received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from The Ohio State University in 1997. Immediately following dental school graduation, Dr. Stoner gained entrance to the prestigious Ohio State University Graduate Periodontology Program for residency training, where he received a Certificate of Periodontics in 2000. Concurrent with residency training, Dr. Stoner also graduated from The Ohio State University Graduate School with a Masters of Science Degree in Oral Pathology and Oral Medicine. During Residency Dr. Stoner also received two scholarships from the American Cancer Society for his research in Oral Cancer.

Following training, Dr. Stoner traveled to Charlotte, North Carolina for a one year associateship concentrating on dental implant and esthetic periodontal therapies...

Allograft Surgery

Soft tissue grafting procedures are utilized in periodontics to treat a number of dental conditions and deficiencies in gum tissue including gum recession.  Traditional methods of soft tissue grafting rely on harvesting the patients own tissue through a series of incisions on the roof of the mouth.  This tissue is then transferred to the deficient areas and secured in place.  Although these methods have been shown to be effective treatments, patients typically report significant discomfort for a period of time following the procedure.

Laser Periodontal Therapy

Presenting Our New Laser for Periodontal Treatment: the Millennium PerioLase

Recently, we acquired the newest technology available for periodontic care; the Nd:YAG Millennium PerioLase. This is the latest generation of the Nd:YAG laser and its designed specifically to treat periodontal disease.

The new pulsed Nd:YAG laser can be used to safely remove the sulcular lining of periodontal pockets without damaging the subjacent connective tissue at the light of microscopic level.

Dental Cone Beam Imaging

Dental Cone Beam ImagingRecently, dental cone beam imaging, a type of CT scanning, was introduced to dentistry. Computer Tomography (CT) is an imaging method that uses computerized technology to convert 2 dimensional images into a 3 dimensional (3D) picture.  These pictures can provide renderings of both soft and hard tissues in the body which then can be examined in detail using computer software.  Dental cone beam imaging provides the doctor more accurate information and 10 times less radiation to the patient than the machines traditionally used in medicine. What this means to patients who have chosen to replace missing teeth, is that now the doctor can examine, diagnose and plan treatment with a level precision not possible in the past.  This more exact approach using dental cone beam imaging means fewer complications, less invasive therapy and quicker healing times for the patient.
