COLUMBUS -- A man faced a judge Friday morning after being hit with a brick during an alleged robbery attempt.
Bail was set at $250,000 for Louie Lee Deloach, who is facing felony charges of kidnapping and aggravated robbery.
Investigators say Deloach was armed with a gun when he approached a man preparing to enter a Hilltop-area home, then put that man in a headlock, at which point an accomplice appeared and tried to grab the victim's keys.
Two neighbors witnessed the attack, then scaled a fence to assist the victim. One of those neighbors grabbed a brick and hit Deloach in the head, according to police.
After Deloach was struck by the brick, his accomplice and the second neighbor are believed to have struggled over the gun, causing the weapon to fire at least once. No one was shot.
Investigators say Deloach's accomplice eventually fled the scene, running through the victim's house. He has not been apprehended.
Several staples were used to close the wound on Deloach's head. He was allegedly carrying zip ties at the time of the incident, suggesting the possibility that he intended to bind the victim.
Police say Deloach claims to have been paid to commit the crime.
