FIGHTING BACK: Snack-Eating Intruder Arrested in Hilltop

Updated: Friday, December 13 2013, 09:42 PM EST
HILLTOP (Jen French) -- Neighbors caught a burglar in the act after police said he broke into a woman's home, and then tried to break into another house across the street.

Neighbors on South Burgess Avenue said the suspicious person was asking to use peoples phones Thursday afternoon.

Michael Jacobs said the teen suspect asked him for a ride as he was heading out the door. Jacobs refused.

"And he walked off and went and knocked on some other doors," he said. "It was just strange."

Officers said the suspect broke into a womans home, but took nothing but a snack. He apparently returned to Jacobs home, where he tried to break the glass front door.

That is when a neighbor, whom Jacobs had asked to keep an eye on his home, called police.

Neighbors confronted the intruder, who admitted he had broken into another home earlier.

Police arrested 18-year-old William Harden. He was charged with burglar and given a $25,000 bond.FIGHTING BACK: Snack-Eating Intruder Arrested in Hilltop
