FIGHTING BACK FLASHBACK: Body Found in Hocking Co. Field

Updated: Monday, May 20 2013, 08:16 PM EDT
LOGAN (Steve Levine) -- Six years after a Columbus man was found shot to death in a Hocking County field, his killers remain on the loose.

Deon Sprigging, 21, was found dead of a gunshot wound and partially naked in a field just off Highway 33 on March 25, 2007, near the Hocking-Fairfield county line.

He was last seen alive the previous night with family and friends in Columbus.

“He was murdered here in Hocking County, killed and dumped, Sheriff Detective Ed Downs said.

An autopsy report revealed Deon bled to death after being shot. He was found by a farmer who was walking through the corn field.

Detectives say they know why the crime occurred in the Hocking County field, but are saying little else about the murder scene.

ABC 6/FOX 28 has learned police believe more than one person may be connected to the killing. Investigators hope the public can provide more information about the murder.

“Just little tidbits of pieces can put this puzzle together,” Downs said.

If you have any information about the homicide, call Hocking County Police at 1-800-903-5395.FIGHTING BACK FLASHBACK: Body Found in Hocking Co. Field
