Dozens of Storage Units Broken Into

Updated: Friday, August 2 2013, 11:42 PM EDT
COLUMBUS — 88 storage units were broken into at Uncle Bob’s Self Store on West Henderson Road.

Police tell ABC 6/FOX 28 it will take some time to interview all the customers to find out exactly what was stolen.

A big screen television set, a blanket and a crowbar were left in the hall at the scene, so it looks like whoever did this left in a hurry.

Police are checking for fingerprints and they’re reviewing video.

One customer tells ABC 6/FOX 28 Reporter Carol Luper she got to her unit shortly after police did, and the officer asked her to leave so they could dust for prints.

Brenda Curtiss says she isn’t sure if anything was taken from her units.

She says its “daunting” and “scary” to think of someone breaking in, but if the company fixes her door she plans to keep her things there.

So far police don’t know exactly how the thief or thieves got in to the place, but they think it was through a piece of chain link fence that was pried open.

The lot is protected by a gate.  Customers must use their code numbers to open the gate.

Anyone with information is asked to call Columbus Police at 645-4545.
