Deputies: Burglary Suspects Went Door-to-Door in Grove City Before Break-In

Updated: Friday, August 23 2013, 08:02 PM EDT
GROVE CITY (Jen French/Ken Hines) -- Two people face burglary charges after allegedly going door-to-door to ask for water in a central Ohio neighborhood, then burglarizing on of the homes.

Georgina Bocook and Leroy Green were arrested Thursday afternoon after deputies allegedly caught them burglarizing a house on Gantz Road in Grove City.

Deputies were alerted to the suspected break-in by a concerned neighbor who reported seeing two people wandering near Breeze Hill Dr. and Lockamy Ct., asking homeowners for drinks of water.

Officers believe Bocook, 28, and Green, 29, may been targeting empty houses.

“I know it's becoming more and more popular that criminals are starting to break into homes in the middle of the day because they have the opportunity to,” neighbor John Mullins said.

The burglarized property's landlord said the suspects were wearing backpacks when they broke into the house in order to walk away with the tenant’s belongings.

The landlord said the suspects cut a slit in the back screen door in order to gain entry to the home.Deputies: Burglary Suspects Went Door-to-Door in Grove City Before Break-In
