School Shooting Reported in Cincinnati

Updated: Monday, April 29 2013, 07:46 PM EDT
COLERAIN TWP - (Story from WKRC) Police are on the scene after a La Salle High School student reportedly shot himself in front of a classroom of students.

Officers were called to the school on North Bend Road around 9 a.m. Monday. Dispatchers tell us that a number of students at the school called 911 to report the shooting.

Officers tell us that a "young man" was taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center for treatment. We do not know the status of that person.

The Green Township Police and Hamilton County Sheriff's Department is on the scene.

Parents who arrive at the school are being escorted into the High School cafeteria. Students are in the gymnasium and they will be reunited with their parents and taken home, if they wish.

School officials say they want to offer counseling to the students who are in the school and they are asking for prayers for the student who shot himself.

WKRC Local 12 reporters Rich Jaffe and Jeff Hirsh are on the scene and we'll post new information as soon as we receive it.
