OSU Gear Seized in Counterfeit Raid

Updated: Thursday, February 14 2013, 07:45 PM EST
COLUMBUS — Investigators have hundreds of pieces of merchandise to sort through after a raid at the Lockbourne Smoke Shop in south Columbus.

Columbus police believe the hats, shoes, and other athletic gear bearing brand-name markings is counterfeit.

SuAnn Cook with the Columbus Division of the Ohio Investigative Unit said officers posing as shoppers purchased the goods on several occasions.

They returned Wednesday with a warrant and confiscated approximately 500 items, Cook said.

Officers questioned two people on the scene, but charges have not been filed.

Investigators are familiar with the market. Officers found similar items in a raid in January 2012.

Cook said agents seized bath salts in the Spring.

Those cases are still pending.
