MARION (Lu Ann Stoia/Ken Hines) -- A high school English teacher is on unpaid leave as district officials investigate allegations she talked about inappropriate sexual activity in her classroom.
Marion School District Superintendent James Barney told ABC 6/FOX 28 the 27-year-old teacher was recorded on a student's cell phone during a "Fun Friday" activity talking about sex.
The superintendent is not revealing the teacher's alleged comments, but said evidence also suggests she offered bonus points and grade changes to students who participated in the inappropriate discussion.
The cell phone video was turned in by the student who recorded it, and is currently being authenticated.
Barney is expected to meet with Ohio Education Assn. representatives next week to discuss the incident in order to determine if the teacher violated the Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators, and if further discipline is warranted.
