HILLIARD (Ken Hines) -- A lightning strike caused a fire that forced family members from their home during a Friday evening storm.
The fire started when a bolt of lighting struck the top of the garage of the Alton Darby Creek Road home, then quickly spread to the attic.
Family members inside the house at the blaze's outset called 911, which enabled fire fighters to save the home, which sustained approximately $50,000 in damage.
Nearly a half-dozen fires have been caused by lightning within a square mile of the house have been reported over the past two years.
