WEST COLUMBUS -- A driver was taken into custody early Tuesday morning after allegedly leading police on a high speed chase through two counties.
The chase started late Monday night in Hilliard when officers say they tried to pull the 20-year-old driver over for speeding.
The driver allegedly refused to pull over and instead tried to outrun officers at speeds of more than 100 miles-per-hour.
Investigators told ABC 6/FOX 28 News that the chase went through Franklin and Madison Counties.
The suspect is accused of swerving around oncoming traffic as more police agencies joined the chase.
Officers later deployed "spike strips" on the road to blow out the SUV's tires.
The chase ended only after the driver lost control and his SUV slid off the road and into a ditch at Feder Road and Cape Charles Drive in West Columbus.
Police say the driver was drunk during the chase.
His name wasn't released early Tuesday morning.
Officers expected to charge him with OVI, Fleeing and other crimes.
