COLUMBUS (Andrew Michael/Ken Hines) -- Budget cuts could have a big effect on pest spraying in Franklin Co. this year.
The Ohio Dept. of Health has cut funding for West Nile Virus testing of mosquitoes, as well as tick identification.
The cuts will deprive community leaders of information that could be used to determine the amount of spraying needed to keep pest populations under control.
The Franklin Co. Public Health Dept. officials say the budget cuts highlight the importance of limiting the amount of standing water in central Ohio during spring and summer.
