Aparment Fire Injures Two

Updated: Monday, March 11 2013, 02:41 PM EDT
COLUMBUS - Two people were hurt and more than 20 people left in the cold after an early morning apartment fire on the city's west side.

Columbus Fire crews were called out to the three-story apartment complex on W. Rich Street around 3:00 am on March 8, 2013.

According to fire officials, the fire started on the third floor and forced over 20 residents to evacuate the building. The second and first floors all suffered smoke and or water damage.

Two of those residents, 76-year-old George Tomlinson and 33-year-old Nicole Pace ,  were transported to area hospitals with injuries sustained in the fire. One person was taken to Mount Carmel West Hospital suffering from smoke inhalation. And the other was taken to the Wexner Medical Center at The Ohio State University with burns. Their conditions are unknown at this time.

Arson investigators were called to the scene, and they tell us the fire is being considered suspicious at this time.

The American Red Cross was called in to assist those displaced by the fire.

As this story develops and more information becomes available, we will update this story.
