Updated: Friday, April 26 2013, 09:34 PM EDT
MARENGO -- Two high school students are hospitalized following a fiery car accident Friday afternoon.

The
Highland High School students were traveling on County Road 170 in
Morrow County when troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol say the
driver lost control, striking a tree.

The driver has been
identified as Kyle Rowe, 16, of Marengo.  His passenger was Noah Smith,
16, of Mt Vernon.  Investigators say both teens were not wearing seat
belts and were thrown from the vehicle upon impact.

It didn't take long before the car caught on fire and quickly became consumed by the flames.

Rowe
was flown by air ambulance to OSU Wexner Medical Center.  Smith was
flown to Nationwide Children's Hospital.  The extent of their injuries
isn't known.
