Blooms and Butterflies at Franklin Park Conservatory
Butterflies are astonishing creatures not least because they're the only insect I don't run screaming from. The conservatory's yearly butterfly show is one of their most popular and it's serious business: many of the species are visiting from far flung places and could wreak havoc on native species should they escape the confines of the building. Here we're in the emergence center, the USDA inspected room where the insects emerge from their chrysalids.
