My friend made a speech at our annual Thanksgiving Program reflecting on what the holiday means to her. Many people in the audience were moved to tears when she pronounced how thankful she is of the loving CSG community. Here, in America, she learned to learn for learning's sake. To love learning and enjoy knowing the information you have learned. We don't teach to standardized tests, although our girls do tend to do very well...we learn for the sake of learning and enjoy every minute of it. No one can take that away from us.

Because I know everyone in my class and in many other classes. Because after CSG, I went to one of the top universities in the nation and thought it was a piece of cake academically when so many others were struggling. Because at CSG I was taught that nothing was out of reach and I could pursue any dream. Because now that I work on internationally acclaimed films out of Hollywood, my CSG friends are still the smartest, most intellectually curious, interesting, fun-loving and creative people I know. Because even 30 years after graduating, we support each other and share that CSG bond across the country. CSG rocks!

The school is so much more than an outsider could ever imagine. They are not the snooty uptight people of privilege one may expect. They have a wonderful scholarship program and every year all of the girls work together to raise the monies for the scholarship fund. The education is top notch and the girls are more than prepared for college because of the rigorous studies there. They have fun, too, though. Every May they have a May Program which entitles the girls to spend 2 weeks volunteering, or traveling (this year to China, Europe or Louisiana), or stay at school and take in a fun class like flag football or a class dedicated to the Harry Potter series. The senior girls get to spend that time doing an internship in a field that they are interested in. I am convinced that there is no better education to be found anywhere, regardless of gender. CSG is simply, the best!

Metro is a collaborative high school with The Ohio State University, Battelle, and the Ohio Educational Council. It is also a STEM High School (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) and it has an early college curriculum, where third and fourth year students can take classes at OSU. Metro students come from all sixteen local central Ohio school districts. The students at Metro are unlike any others: they hold their own fund raisers, work on Service Learning projects, and even voted on their own business casual dress code. I transfered from CSG to Bishop Ready High School and I would pick Bishop Ready over CSG any day. At Bishop Ready the atmosphere is very welcoming, and the student body is so nice. The whole school is a family; the faculty and the students together. They're a wonderful support system. If one student is sad the whole school is there to help. They're also constantly helping others; running clothing drives, food drives, bake sales, collecting school supplies, etc. My opinion is not bias because I have been to both schools, and would have to say that Bishop Ready High School is my definition of a 'cool school'. Go Knights!

These girls have a reputation of being snooty yet nothing could be further from the truth. There is absolutely no class system at that school. The teachers, students, kitchen help, bus drivers are all treated with the same respect as the head of school Diane Cooper. These girls know everyone of the staff. Recently one of the kitchen staff nickname "Chicken" resigned. My daughter was sooo upset. These girls know the staff and the staff's family, etc... Kindness is at a level I have never seen anywhere else in Columbus. Yet, somehow people continue to think otherwise. These girls understand that and are always trying to show they are different. I challenge you the media to spend one hour walking the halls of CSG watch how the teachers talk to the students. That's what sold me on the school 6 years ago. By the way, I have kids in other schools so this is not completely bias.

I'm always so amazed by girls who graduate from CSG because of the clear confidence they reflect in speaking one-on-one to someone or within large groups. Public speaking is often not supported or taught to our youth enough to make it something young people master. CSG gets those girls out in front and feeling like leaders in many different ways. The girls can't help but reflect a tremendous amount of confidence.
