Teen Starts Kickstarter to Pay for College Applications story image
NEW ALBANY (Adam Slinger) – College is expensive. The applications are only the beginning.

“My dad thought the Common Application was submitted once and you pay a one-time fee and it’s done,” said Mollie Koval, a senior at New Albany High School. “I had to break his little heart and tell him that you have to pay about $50 to $75 per school.”

Hoping to spare her single father, Mollie is attempting to pay for college on her own, but asked for a little help to get there.

She just started a Kickstarter campaign asking for $200.

“Help this young woman accomplish her dreams,” she writes on the website, “because if some guy can raise 60,000 dollars to make potato salad, Mollie should be able to pay for her freaking college applications.”

As of late Friday afternoon, she had raised $161 of her $200 goal.
