COLUMBUS (Dawn Faugl) -- Rescue crews and the Columbus police dive team searched a quarry in south Columbus Thursday night, after getting a 911 call about someone going under water and not coming back up.

The search was called off Thursday night after about two hours. Police say they're not optimistic the man is still alive, and firefighters say they are now going to start looking for a body.

Police say they have just one witness that saw a man, possibly in his twenties, struggling in the water. ABC 6/FOX 28 talked with one witness who says he heard someone shouting for help.

"There was a guy saying he saw somebody drowning so
he jumped in the water and we jumped in the water after him and helped look for
the guy, " Carl Yenichek said.

Police do not know who the possible drowning victim is. No one had reported anyone missing Thursday night, and no one else at the quarry said they were with the man.

A detective said the Columbus police dive team will likely be back Friday morning, once it's light again, to continue the search.
