NORTH COLUMBUS (Ashley Yore/Sean Rowe) -- Investigators are looking into who shot a man in the face just outside of the North Columbus home, where he was staying, ABC6/FOX28's Ashley Yore reports.

The shooting victim -- 43-year-old John Wright Jr. -- was reported to be in stable condition as of 6 a.m. Tuesday.

The reported shooting happened in the 1700 block of Carolyn Avenue, authorities said. Wright was in critical condition when police reached the house. He's since been upgraded to stable, Yore reports.

Detectives say they're having a difficult time getting information from Wright . Having been shot in his chin, he was unable to speak by the time detectives arrived at the hospital where he's being treated.

Police say Wright doesn't know who shot him or where it happened. Officers found him outside of the garage of the Carolyn Avenue home.

Detectives say evidence shows the shooting happened at the home. Though they didn't find a gun at the scene, they're still piecing together what happened.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to contact the Columbus Division of Police at 614-645-4545.Man Shot in Chin, Found at Garage of NE Columbus Home
