COLUMBUS (Chelsea Spears) -- A man is missing part of his leg after police say he fell asleep while intoxicated on a pair of railroad tracks and was struck by a train Saturday afternoon.

Columbus police say the train conductor called 911. He told police he had hit someone on the train tracks but that the man was still alive.

The train hit the man around 11:20 a.m. Saturday at Fields and Dow avenues.

Police say the man was intoxicated when he fell asleep on the tracks. They say the train severed one of his legs. The man is in serious but stable condition, according to police.

At this time, officials are not releasing the names of the people involved in this accident.

Police say they are not pressing any charges.Intoxicated Man Hit by Train After Falling Asleep on Tracks
