COLUMBUS (Dawn Faugl/Chelsea Spears) -- A Grove City man is facing attempted tampering charges after he was accused of pointing a laser at a Columbus Police helicopter Tuesday night.

On Thursday morning, 20-year-old Denzel Christian appeared in court. He is charged with interfering with the operation of an aircraft with a laser.

A spokesperson for Columbus Police says the chopper pilot alerted officers that someone was shining a laser pointer at the helicopter in west Columbus. Officers say they responded to the house on Homewood Avenue where they believed the laser to be coming from, and Christian admitted to pointing the laser. Christian was arrested on the spot.

The helicopter was able to make a safe landing.
