REYNOLDSBURG (Lisa Rantala) -- A year and a half long hunt for a fugitive contractor ended when officers say David Gupta literally ran into police this week.

Caught on dash cam video, police say Gupta side swiped a city officer who was involved in a traffic stop at US 40 and Brice Road Monday night. While police say Gupta had a breath alcohol level of .206, more than twice the legal limit, they also found he had outstanding warrants.

One was a theft warrant out of Hilliard where police say Gupta took homeowner Melanie Moore for more than $2,500.

Moore told ABC 6/FOX 28 that Gupta came knocking on her door last spring saying he’d fix her roof after it sustained damage from a bad hail storm. Moore said she gave Gupta cash and checks on two separate days and never saw him again until this week.

Gupta was arraigned Wednesday when the judge set a $5,000 bond in the case.  Fugitive Contractor Caught after Reportedly Crashing into Police Car
