COLUMBUS (Chris Vanocur) -- Next week is a big one for Columbus. Members of the Democratic National Committee will be making an inspection visit.

Specifically, they're coming to town to determine if Columbus should host the 2016 Democratic National Convention.

Reportedly, there will be about a dozen Democratic officials visiting Columbus. They will likely stay at either the Hyatt or the Hilton, because both connect to the Columbus Convention Center.

In total, these Democrats will be in town for just about 40 hours. They will check out the Nationwide Arena where the 2016 Democratic National Convention would be held, and the convention center where the media would work.

Wednesday, August 6th, a big rally will be held at the Nationwide Arena Plaza. ABC 6/FOX 28 has learned that many in the crowd may be wearing blue - not because of the Blue Jackets -  but because blue is the Democrat's color.

ABC 6/FOX 28 was also told the Democratic visitors will be wined and dined, perhaps, at the Ivory Room at the Miranova.

And, yes, Jeni's ice cream may be served.Columbus Prepares to Woo Democratic Officials
