JEFFERSONVILLE (Mike McCarthy/Sean Rowe) -- The man wanted for committing a murder in Hocking Hills is in life-threatening condition after shooting himself about 6:15 a.m. Monday, while engaged with Fayette County SWAT at an Econolodge in Jeffersonville, ABC6/FOX28's Mike McCarthy reports.

Suspect Michael Napoli is listed in life-threatening condition and has been flown to Miami Valley Hospital for medical attention. The exact nature of his self-inflicted injury or injuries has not yet been confirmed by authorities.

According to the Hocking County Sheriff's Office, a Fayette County deputy on an overnight patrol spotted the white van - a Chrysler Town & Country van - that Napoli was believed to be traveling in.
It was parked outside of the Econolodge located in the 9600 block of West Lancaster Road in Jeffersonvile.

The deputy relayed the information to the Hocking County S.O., which sent a detective to the scene to investigate. When shown a photo of Napoli, a clerk at the hotel was able to identify him as a person staying at the hotel.

Fayette County SWAT was called to the scene. They contacted Napoli and attempted to negotiate with him, McCarthy reports. Shortly after 6:15 a.m., Napoli shot himself, the Sheriff's Office says.

The Hocking County sheriff did confirm that Kimberly Napoli -- Michael's ex-wife -- is one of the victim's from Sunday's incident in Hocking Hills.

Michael Napoli faces three charges, including aggravated murder, attempted aggravated murder and aggravated burglary, authorities said. Hocking County Murder Suspect Shoots Himself
